This month’s Spring...

May Goodebox: Spring Sprang Sprung!

This month’s Spring themed Goodebox showed up right when I had just purchased a bunch of natural goodies for myself, so I have to admit it got overlooked. I had the best of intentions to do a quick video for it, but life got in the way of blogging last week so I thought I’d just share it with you here!

The Goodes! (Clockwise from L to R)

Vita Care Whitening Gum (yum!!)

Pure + Remedy Precious Drops Super Hydrating Serum

Pure + Remedy Damage Repairing Facial Serum

Health Warrior Chia Bar (yum!!)

Shea Terra White Chocolate Shea Butter

The Natural Lip Scrub

The Chia Bar and gum were delicious and I’d definitely try both of them again soon. I am glad to have The Natural Lip Scrub, I’ll need to keep my lips smooth for all those beautiful and creamy new BITE lipsticks!

I haven’t tried the Pure + Remedy products yet, but I plan to do so soon. I was a little bummed about the Shea Terra sample I received. I hear lots of great things about their products, but I wish they had included ANY other scent. Overly sweet scents give me an instant headache, but that’s a personal thing and has nothing to do with the quality of the product. I would have loved to try the Rose Hips version, but I’ve got lots of other skincare products to play with so I certainly can’t complain.

What did you get in your Goodebox this month? Anything you loved? Hated? Let me know in the comments!

And the @andalounaturals Beauty Balm giveaway winner is:...

And the @andalounaturals Beauty Balm giveaway winner is: @couturerin!!!
I didn’t have a lot of time as this was a quick day trip into NYC, so I was not at the makeup show for very long. I missed out on the seminars I wanted to attend because I was<strike> waiting in line for a really important bagel</strike> late. However, I did get to meet the amazing Kristen Arnett of the Green Beauty Team. I was so happy to see her in the sea of not-at-all-caring-about-natural-makeup attendees that I immediately and uncharacteristically introduced myself to her at the Youngblood Cosmetics booth. She didn’t even run away! In fact, we chatted green beauty for a few minutes and I got to learn some good tips and check out the Youngblood line. I had every intention of going back to purchase some Youngblood, but was so overwhelmed after walking around (and spending a ton of money on Bite Beauty lipsticks) that I just had to pass them up. BUT, I’ve definitely got my eye on them for future purchases.

That’s everything! Overall I had a great experience this weekend. Sure, I spent WAY too much money, but I got lots of goodies to talk to all of you about and that’s what really matters, right?!

Is there anything you see here that you’d like me to review? Let me know in the comments!

*Please don’t be confused about the Ellis Faas purchases, these are NOT NATURAL, as I state in the video, these are absolute makeup fangirl purchases. She’s amazing, go check her out!

Very excited to try out Lavinia Borcau’s From My Neck Up...

Very excited to try out Lavinia Borcau’s From My Neck Up face and neck exercise program tonight. Why...

Face of the Day: Andalou Naturals Beauty Balm Review Video

Why hello there! I wanted to share a face of the day post featuring the products I’ve been wearing lately. Obviously, that lead to the totally random decision to try out youtube for the first time ever. Makes sense right? I wanted to show the beauty balm in action and give you an idea of the coverage that it gives. It’s a bit overexposed, but I’m a newbie at this - I’ll work on it! (Also, I applied eye makeup before the video that you won’t see in the post below.)

You can check out the video above or see the list of products I’ve been using lately below!

Benecos Natural Mascara Maximum Volume

This Alima Pure blush is so pretty, the video doesn’t do it justice. I will have to fix my exposure and apply extra for the camera! I love this blush so much that I’ll definitely use it in another video in the future so that you can see it better.

I’m behind on the youtube experience, but I’m quickly seeing it’s going to be a great place to connect with people. If you’re on YouTube and have suggestions for who I should check out (yourself included!) Please leave me a comment. OR if there are any videos you’d like to see from me, let me know that too. I love hearing from you guys!

Did you enter my giveaway yet? What are you waiting for?

Well girls and boys, there comes a time in every beauty blogger’s online life where she takes an unplanned three week blogging hiatus. It doesn’t mean she doesn’t love you, she just has a lot of things happening in her life. Maybe it starts with putting off writing, then she might let perfect lighting opportunities pass without a single photo, and then *gasp* even tweeting overwhelms her. Suddenly, three weeks have come and gone with nary a legitimate post for her readers. The only thing left for her to do is give away her favorite product in the hopes that you will forgive her!

The Product:

My favorite folks over at Kimberton Whole Foods recently pointed out this product to me, and I haven’t wanted to wear much else since. You’re looking at a new product from Andalou Naturals, a legitimate Beauty Balm with a sheer tint with SPF 30. I’m quite pale, and also impatient in the morning so this cream takes care of quite a few of my problems. I can wear it on it’s own, there’s no white cast and it doesn’t feel greasy. It’s truly an all in one product.

What’s more, every time I put it on, Matt sniffs my face and tells me how great I “always” smell. (Note: I definitely don’t “always” smell great, this comment began the day I started wearing this product.) The citrus scent is not overpowering, and it disappears after 20-30 minutes.

The Ingredients:

This chemical free sunscreen uses Zinc Oxide, which I prefer, and it also contains fruit stem cells and a super antioxidant cocktail to brighten your skin. I always thought that the slew of traditional beauty balms were counter intuitive, considering they mostly contain chemicals that we all know are far from nourishing, and probably even poisonous. The Andalou Naturals Beauty Balm however, is one I can get behind!

Active ingredients: Zinc Oxide 20.0% Inactive ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Juice*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) and Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oils*, Sorbitan Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Fruit Stem Cell and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Hyaluronic Acid, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Extract*, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Oil*, Algae and Cucumis Melo (Melon) Extracts, Magnesium Sulfate, Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos), Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis and Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Extracts*†, Iron Oxide, Phenethyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil*
*Organic † Fair Trade Made naturally without GMO’s, gluten, paraben preservatives, petrochemicals, phthalates, sulfates, synthetic colors, dyes and fragrances. Verified Gluten-Free 100% Eco-friendly, Vegetarian & Cruelty-Free

Coverage & Tone:

I found the Andalou Naturals to be very comparable to the Suntegrity 5 in 1 cream that I loved. It has a similarly thick but easy to apply consistency. However, though it claims to suit most skin tones, the Andalou Naturals does not offer the multiple shades that Suntegrity does. I am pale and freckly and have pretty healthy skin, so I can get away with less coverage and I wear this on it’s own. If you have problem skin and need full coverage, this may be best used as a primer for your foundation.

I didn’t have the chance to try this on cooler or darker skin tones than mine, but I suspect that it would work best for neutral and yellow, light to medium skin tones. This product really blends in well (photo 2) and seems to disappear, but it also has an orange enough cast to it that I feel the need to warn our cooler toned friends. If that’s you, maybe try before you buy. As I said, if this isn’t enough coverage for you, it works great as a primer too! So far, it has worked really well under my Alima Pure mineral foundation.

The Giveaway:

I love this product so much that I want you to have it! One lucky winner will receive a full size tube of the Andalou Naturals Beauty Balm, a $19 value.

To enter: You can earn up to 4 entries by doing any of the following:

I’ve had my eye on Au Naturale’s colorful website for a while now, so I was thrilled when they sent me some makeup to try out. What first struck me about Au Naturale upon first perusal, is that they have an arsenal of cream shadows in a variety of colors that few other natural makeup companies can boast.

The products I tried were all creamy and nourishing and I’m happy to report they’re made with clean ingredients, are all vegan, and made in the USA. Color me impressed!

From left to right (photo 1), here are the products I got to try:

Lipstick in Ruby. $22
Ruby is a very pretty coral-to-red color with a hint of shimmer (show in photo 5). The coverage is semi-sheer but it can be built up into an opaque peachy red. This color suits my skin tone well and it’s so versatile that I anticipate I’ll be wearing it a lot this summer. I mean, there is going to be a summer, right? When it does finally happen, I think Ruby will be perfect paired with a bronzer or the inevitable 10 million freckles that will appear once the sun gets shining.

Lip Gloss in Magnolia. $15
This pale pink gloss is very sheer with a high gloss finish. The shimmery pink pigment gives it a frosty effect. This particular color did not work well alone for me, simply because I have yellow undertones and am currently without any color or even those future freckles. However, paired with a darker pencil or lipstick underneath, it’s a perfect gloss to keep your lips shiny and soft.

Light Veil Finishing Powder $22
I don’t wear a lot of powders these days, as my skin bordered on dry for most of the winter. For this reason, I didn’t have high hopes for any finishing powder, but I was pleasantly surprised! This turned out to be ideal for setting my concealer. It’s finely milled so it doesn’t leave a powdery finish or bring unwanted notice to flakey spots. Whether I used it on a concealed blemish or to set my under my eye concealer, it really helped things stay put for the day.

I know the slip-n-slide quality of natural oil based makeup is something a lot of women struggle with when they first make the switch, and I think setting/finishing powders can help. So, if you find your makeup needs a lot of adjusting throughout the day, give this powder a try.

Creme Eye Shadow in Aubergine. $20
This was my favorite product of the bunch. It’s a deep, slightly plum toned purple. What’s great about this product is its versatility. As seen above, you can use it as you would a gel liner and it doesn’t budge (photo 2). You can also use it blended out to create a wash of color or a smokey eye look (photo 3). Also, this is a drier cream than other natural brands offer so it’s easier to work with.

Like most cream shadows, it will crease during wear. However, set with a powder it will last longer and any movement can be adjusted throughout the day without too much trouble. I love having Aubergine in my makeup collection. The color is unique and the product is versatile.

Travel Brush Set $48.50
The generous travel brush set is luxurious and convenient. The texture of the brushes is similar to the Real Techniques brushes, but the feel is even softer on your skin. I found myself in an unbreakable habit of using the blush brush with my Pacifica cream bronzer. Together the two are a perfect match for achieving a bronzy glow, and that’s an impressive statement coming from this vampirish gal.

Overall, the natural ingredients in Au Naturale’s products make them perfect for multi-tasking. I would love to try some more of the creme shadow colors and I’ve got my eye on some of their pencils too.

Au Naturale’s products are available on their website and you can connect with them on facebook where they have lots of tips, tricks, and coupon codes!

Have you ever tried anything from Au Naturale? Let me know in the comments!

I...

Face of the Day: Red Lips, Dark Lashes & Glowing skin

I haven’t done a face of the day in ages, and that’s no fun! I’m headed out to dinner tonight so I thought I’d share with you what’s got my skin glowing. I know I say it in every post, and you may be saying “duh” right about now, but I’m going to keep saying it. The better you care for your skin, the better your makeup will look. Since switching over to natural skincare, my skin just gets better and better and I can wear less and less foundation.

In addition to my Benecos mascara that I never stop yapping about and Bite Beauty’s Pomegranate lipstick (quite possibly the most beautiful red lipstick I’ve ever used), here’s what’s keeping me glowing this week:

Kahina Brightening Serum (c/o Kahina):
Now I know I just got this a couple days ago but I’m using it and loving it so I wanted to show you what I’ve got on under my makeup.

Roots Rose Radish Carrot Rose Face Cream (c/o RRR):
I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks as my morning moisturizer under makeup. It helps even out my tone and allows any makeup I do wear to glide on. I felt glow-y the first time I used it and it smells incredible. More on this gorgeous cream soon.

RMS Beauty “Un-cover Up” in 22:
This I use just to conceal any spots and unify to my color. This goes on so beautifully over the Roots Rose Radish Cream. If you use the RMS you may have noticed it’s kind of stiff out of the jar, so I love having something to give it some slip. I warm it on the back of my hand before applying it and it allows me to get light but even coverage where needed.

That’s it! In my book there’s nothing more beautiful than a clean fresh face with bright lips. What are you wearing and using now that Spring is (sorta) here? Let me know in the comments!

Kahina Giving Beauty

I just can’t get enough of this brand. Everything I try is so luxurious and the more I take care of my skin with products like these, the less I foundation and concealer I need to wear. I’ll be testing these out in the coming month and do a full review later on.

Have you tried anything from Kahina Giving Beauty? What were you thoughts?

(c/o Kahina)

Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hair Mist Review: Ne’er...

Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hair Mist Review: Ne’er hath my hair shined so bright.

I recently visited my beloved sister in law, who happens to be a green beauty user herself. Naturally, any visit between us quickly escalates into a frenzied hippie product swap. It’s pretty great.

On my last visit, there were two stand out products in her collection. The Moisture Mist is the first that I will share with you since I liked it enough to purchase some for myself.

The mist contains shea butter, which my hair loves, Coconut Oil (hair also loves), and shine-enhancing neem oil. I was first introduced to neem oil in this holistic hair tutorial many moons ago, but I had yet to try it. Folks, I am a convert now. My hair has never been shinier than when I use this product. It also controls frizz and helps bring out my natural curl without making it stringy or heavy. Plus, it smells like a day at the beach.

I think this mist works where regular hair oils have failed me, because of the method of delivery. With hair oils, I’m applying them directly with my hands so it’s difficult to get an even application. I usually end up with a few stringy sections of hair that won’t dry while the other half of my head is still rocking the frizz. The moisture mist is a more diluted mixture and with the spray bottle I can apply the product evenly. I can massage the product in and shape my curls while they dry. I also like to use it when my hair is half dry. I apply the product, and then use this tutorial for effortless but impressive vintage curls without heat.

I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now with significant success. In fact, armed with my new shampoo, and the Tay Everyday in my purse, I think I may have solved my hair woes! Now, if I could just master my fear of the hair dryer, I might have a fighting chance of not embarrassing myself out in the wild.

I saw a lot of Shea Moisture products in the green beauty collab posts, so I’m guessing this brand is a favorite. What should I try next? Let me know in the comments!

Kristen Arnett picks this month’s Goodebox Goodies!...

Kristen Arnett picks this month’s Goodebox Goodies! Featuring Alima Pure

So, we all already knew I loved Goodebox, but March’s over-top-awesome-box is a makeup lover’s dream! This makes sense considering it was curated by the talented makeup artist Kirsten Arnett. (Seriously, go check her out, she’s amazing!) As you can see in the swatches, the highly pigmented blush and shadows from Alima Pure are absolutely gorgeous. I’ll be sharing more thoughts on these soon as I can already tell I’m going to love them. I didn’t have the lip balm with me when I was swatching, but I assure you it is equally beautiful.

The March box goodes, as pictured:

Savon Du Bois Spectacular Spearmint Bar Soap

Luminous Shimmer Blush in Freja

Pearluster Eyeshadow in Cappuccino

Luminous Shimmer Eyeshadow in Glow

Satin Matte Eyeshadow in Java

Alima Pure Nourishing Lip Balm in Mango

Yarok Feed Your Do Styling Whip

I was really impressed with how creamy and luscious the Alima products are. (To clarify, yes, they are mineral powders, but the feeling of them is unreal!) I can’t wait to try out some looks with them. The yummy smelling Yarok went straight to Matt, who is on a seemingly unending search for organic hair styling solutions. The styling whip has been on his wish list, so I was happy to hand it over. I really have created a <strike>diva</strike> monster.

What did you get in your Goodebox? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Organic Rituals: Kahina Giving Beauty Review

Each night, by some miracle, I manage to remove my makeup, cleanse, tone, moisturize, brush my teeth, and remove my contact lenses. It’s the only reliable routine I have in my otherwise unstructured life. For some reason, likely a lifelong disinclination to go to sleep, I have to admit that I often dread the before bed quotidian. But now, with Kahina Giving Beauty, what was once a routine has transformed into a ritual.

Not only does Kahina boast one of the prettiest packages in the green beauty world, but Kahina also has a beautiful story behind it. The streaming design you see on each package is actually made up of the signatures of the Berber women of Morocco who harvest the argan nuts and make the oil. Kahina is a beautiful example of the ‘beyond organic’ movement which champions ethical and sustainable production practices. In fact, each of those pretty violet bottles are made of recycled materials and bear the ECO Cert logo.

I know I keep mentioning Kahina in different posts, but since I was able to use them almost exclusively for well over a month and I am ready to purchase a second bottle of the oil, I think it’s time for a full review! Here are the products I tried:

Kahina Giving Beauty Facial Cleanser $56*, 200ML/6.7 oz

The scent of the cleanser is light and sweet, and the consistency is creamy. Paired with a soft cloth or a cotton ball it’s perfect for removing makeup from your eyes or your face. When I’m wearing makeup, I wet my face, apply the cleanser all over and leave it on for a minute while I tend to another part of my routine. I then remove the cleanser with a damp soft cloth and a splash of water, repeating if needed.

This cleanser is perfectly gentle but also absolutely effective. It contains willowbark and papaya extracts which gently exfoliate and clarify, while the rich fatty acids of the argan oil and other ingredients moisturize and tone your skin. I follow it up with a toner if needed and move onto moisturizing.

*If your first thought was, that’s pricey for a cleanser, let me counter that with: this is a 200ML bottle, it will last you forever. I don’t think I’m even halfway through and I’m nearing two months of use!

Kahina Giving Beauty 100% Organic Argan Oil $36 30ML/1oz

This is my favorite step in my new nightly ritual. I’ve used other Argan oil products, but Kahina’s oil is special.

As I mentioned in a recent post, if you have not yet tried a facial oil but are feeling curious, you should absolutely start with this one!

The oil is lightweight and pale in color and feels almost creamy upon application. The intoxicating light coffee scent hints at the pureness of the product. What’s great about argan oil is that you can use it all over, your, face, body, hair, lashes, or cuticles. There’s no part of your beauty routine you can’t include it in. In fact, this is the only oil I can successfully use in my hair without it feeling weighed down or stringy.

After reading so many great reviews, I expected to love these products, but what surprised me most was how effective they are. The fine lines around my eyes have visibly softened since using this oil for more than a month, and my complexion became more clear and even. I will say there were a few nights of indoor heat this winter when I needed something heavier. When that was the case I used a balm. Otherwise, I think you could get along with little but these products and maintain beautiful youthful skin.

Oftentimes, my beauty blogging self included, women use too many products. That’s one reason this simple combination was such a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend trying it if you haven’t yet. There is just something magical about Kahina Giving Beauty, and you can feel great about using it!

You can learn more about Kahina and purchase products at their website.

Have you tried any Kahina products yet? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

*These products were provided to me for my consideration without obligation. All thoughts are my own and I received no other compensation for reviewing them.

Green Beauty Collab: Products I would repurchase
As evidenced by...

Green Beauty Collab: Products I would repurchase

As evidenced by my lack of posting for a couple weeks, things have been crazy here at house of Pemjo. Regardless, when Brianna of iluvjesse444 asked me to participate in a collab post, I knew I had to make it happen. (Even if it is at the eleventh, erm, ok, thirteenth hour.) I love my green beauty girls and they have honestly been the best part of starting this blog. So if after reading this, you find you are thirsty for more, check out the amazing and adorable iluvjessee444‘s masterlist!

Now, while I could probably come up with about 100 things I would love to include in this post, we were limited to 10-15 for your sake. So, here it is! 12 natural products I would repurchase:

(From top left moving clockwise:)

Soapwalla Deodorant Cream
I wrote more extensively about this product previously, so I won’t go into much detail here. Just know that this stuff works, and I’m never turning back. What I’ve learned since my original review, is that you really don’t need to use a lot, so each $14 jar lasts a long time. In fact, this is only my second jar, and it’s brand new. If you haven’t tried it yet, I’m told that warm weather is coming, so don’t spend another summer in dirty hippie misery. Get yourself something that works!

Tarte Waterproof Concealer
I know Tarte is not perfectly clean, but I got this quite some time ago, and I use it almost daily. It’s peachy enough to cover my purplish dark circles and it really is waterproof, so it doesn’t budge during the day and it doesn’t interfere with my mascara to make the smudgy mess that other concealers can cause.

Tay Everyday Rosemary Shea Butter for Skin & Hair
This was a Goodebox sample and I fell in love from the moment I first used it on my hair. It is actually for skin and hair, but I’ve had so much success with treating fly-away’s that I haven’t otherwise experimented with it. Also, this size is so perfect for throwing in your bag for touch ups that when I do purchase a full size jar, I’ll refill this little guy for my purse.

RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek (pictured in Rapture)
I know I just told you about this product, but just to show you how much I love it, I included it here again. If you love easy makeup, do yourself a favor and get yourself a Lip2Cheek. I have future plans to collect them all.

Benecos Natural Mascara
If you want a mascara that will give you an incredibly full and dark lash line,<strike> and you have the patience of a saint</strike>, this is the mascara for you. Ok, you don’t really need that much patience, but it is a very wet mascara so you have to be careful for the first minute after application. If you can manage to get through that minute, you’ve got a mascara that won’t budge or flake. Unless of course you cry or, it rains. Then you’re on your own.

Kahina Giving Beauty Argan Oil (c/o Kahina)
I know, I know. Technically, I didn’t purchase this one, but I have every intention of purchasing the next bottle, and the next bottle after that. I will save the full review for an upcoming post, but this magic little bottle of line-softening creamy argan oil is too good for anyone to pass up. If you haven’t tried any facial oils yet, start with this one. It’s my absolute favorite so far, and I think it’s going to be one of my home base moisturizers.

Tarte Beauty & the Box
Again, Tarte’s not perfect, but these little boxes are cute and easy to get a hold of if you are just getting started in natural makeup. They’re also a solid placeholder option for those of us on the ever difficult hunt for more natural pressed shadows. I’ve recommended these to friends, and I’d try another for sure.

Pumpkin & Poppy Lockbearer Cream Eyeshadow
I bought this on a whim after Wheaten Beauty reviewed it in one of her awesome videos. I’m glad I did. Though I don’t wear it as often as I should, it offers a truly unique color and matte finish. It doesn’t budge or crease as much as most natural cream shadows and I’m fascinated by the creative, artisanal quality of her products. Plus, they’re very affordable. I want to try more Pumpkin and Poppy cream shadows soon.

Hylunia Beyond Complex C Bioactive Serum
Again, this is a product I’ve talked about before, but if you are new to my blog, you can read more about it here. I use Hylunia in my facials so you can be confident that I love and use their products and this serum is probably my favorite. If you are having fine-line panic or pigmentation, give this a try. It’s a little harder to find, it’s only available in spas and on their site, but it’s absolutely worth it.

Hylunia Facial Day Lotion
For a while, I was trying so many creams, oils and lotions that a lot of time has passed since I had used this one. After running out of what I was using, I pulled this out and was again wowed by the difference it can make to your skin in just a matter of days. I talk more about it here, but just know that my skin rarely feels as smooth as when I use this lotion regularly. Also, it has a tiny bit of sun-protection, and I’ll take all the help I can get.

W3LL People Nudist Supernatural Lipshine
When I received this in a recent Goodebox I immediately thought “oh great, another sheer, non-existent, natural lip color.” I was wrong. This is now my go-to “I have no time for makeup but this keeps me from looking like I’m dying” kind of product. I was surprised what this little tube could do for my pale lips. Plus, it’s super hydrating and it softens your lips with a peppermint tingle. I look forward to trying more from W3LL PEOPLE.

Beauty Blender
This is another product I never thought would justify it’s price tag or it’s hype. Wrong again. Sure, $25 for a sponge seems ridiculous, but you will use it every day. Your cream foundations will look better and it will last forever. If I am able to make it to the Makeup Show in May, I’ll be picking up a few more of these. Yes, there are knockoffs available and some are good, but the real one is GREAT.

That’s my list! Like I said, I’m sure there are a hundred things I could have listed here, but these were the top of mind products that I’ve been using and loving lately. I hope you enjoyed it, I would love to hear what you think of these types of posts.

Now, go check out what the other Green Beauty gurus can’t get enough of.

Matt recently ordered this handsome shaving set from Harry’s,...

Matt recently ordered this handsome shaving set from Harry’s, founded by Warby Parker’s co-founder. The shave cream is definitely not all natural, though they sort of make natural claims on their site, but it was so damn gorgeous I had to share it with you guys. The more I research men’s products, the more great design I encounter. What’s that about?? They also “give a shave” for each sale, and that’s something, right? Anyway, if you’re looking for a nice gift for a guy, check Harry’s out.

A little hippie shopping with @mattflickdesign tonight at...

A little hippie shopping with @mattflickdesign tonight at Kimberton Whole Foods. It’s really lovely and much more matte than other cream shadows - not an easy thing to find. I definitely recommend trying these out!
After last week’s shocking shower exposé, I came to realize I have another hoarder secret I’ve been keeping. My RMS Beauty collection!

I love my RMS Beauty products and once again I’m ashamed I haven’t shared a full review with you. Soon after I bought the first three, I ordered another, and then another. I’m addicted. The packaging and concept of RMS Beauty is as lovely and simple as the makeup itself.

Created by makeup artist Rose Marie Swift, this line is truly a “skincare” makeup. Each product has a base of coconut and jojoba oils, cocoa and shea butters, and beeswax. These are truly beautiful organic products that melt into your skin and nourish it.

From left to right (in both photos), here’s what you’re looking at:

Lip2Cheek in Rapture $36: This is a deep brick red that can be used both as a cheek color and a lip color. On the cheeks it can be sheered out into a dramatic vintage rouge look, and on the lips it can be built up to an impossibly glamorous red. I absolutely. love. this. product. I want them ALL!

Cream Eye Shadows in Seduce & Magnetic. $28 These cream shadows are great as a base for building layers of color with another shadow or used alone for an effortless smokey eye. You control how heavy or sheer you want the color to be, but be warned, they do crease. This isn’t a bad thing. Remember, it’s made with skin friendly ingredients so you’re taking care of your skin when you use them. However, it is something to keep an eye on throughout the day. Just pat the product in and you’re good to go!

You can also set these with a regular shadow or setting powder. I find Josie Maran’s Argan Eyes shadows work particularly well on top of the creams and together they barely budge during the day. This is a great, versatile product, and they’re a lot of fun to experiment with.

Living Luminizer $38 This is a cool to neutral toned highlighter, and as far as I’m concerned it’s an essential. You can use this to highlight the brow bone, the inner corner of your eyes, your cheek bones, cupids bow, shoulders, anything and everything. What’s so brilliant about this product is that you are moisturizing your skin with organic coconut oil wherever you use it, so use it everywhere!! I would love to see a warmer toned highlighter come out, but I’m sure this can be mixed with the gold cream shadow for the same effect.

“Un” cover-up in 22. $36 This is a yellow toned light to medium concealer. I sheer this out with a Beauty Blender and wear it as a foundation. It’s the perfect amount of coverage for my pale but freckly skin. I also use it as a blemish concealer and when I set with a powder, it stays put. It’s very build-able and covers naturally.

I will say, as an under eye concealer, this doesn’t work for me. It’s very yellow, and I need more of a salmon color to cover my purplish dark circles. However, I suspect if I mixed it with a dab of the right Lip2Cheek, it would work like a dream.

This is the beauty of the RMS concept. Think of them as little pots of skin nourishing paints to mix and match as you choose. I can’t get enough of them and I suspect my RMS-hoarding will only continue.

Have you tried anything from RMS Beauty? What should I try next? Let me know in the comments!

All products were purchased by me. As always, all thoughts are my own.
