Juice Beauty. In a Word: Yum!

In the eyes of the average, non-beauty-blogging person, I probably have way too many skincare toys to play with. However, when Juice Beauty offered to send me some products for my consideration, I said “heck yeah!” I’ve had my eye on Juice Beauty since I started researching natural skincare. I mean come on, the whole idea just sounds yummy. I’m happy to report that I was not disappointed! Here are my three favorite items I tried:

Tone: Hydrating Mist- This is just what it says it is: A hydrating mist. It’s great! It tones your skin without drying it out and is a nice refreshing step before serums and or moisturizers.

Treat: Antioxidant Serum - I’d tell you that this stuff smells good, but that really wouldn’t do it justice. I mean, honestly, I thought for a second or two about tasting it. It smells like fresh fruit.  But more importantly, since using this serum my skin has been smoother and healthier, and dare I say: Glowier? Yes, I dare. This is a delicious, a great daily serum, I’d recommend it to just about anyone!

Moisturize: Oil Free Moisturizer -I don’t usually like oil free moisturizers for myself, the ones I’ve tried in the past just don’t sit well with my dry to combination skin. This one is an exception. It’s a good lightweight moisturizer and it’s PERFECT under makeup. In fact, it now lives in my makeup kit. If you have oilier skin and find that your makeup looks too shiny with a regular moisturizer, try this one! I’ll definitely be purchasing more for my kit when I run out.

For Honesty’s Sake:

I do have to tell you about a smallhiccup I experienced while trying these products. All three items you see above actually contain that ingredient I keep running into in natural cosmetic lines: phenoxyethanol. Since originally writing about it, I confess I’ve relaxed a little bit. I’ve reviewed other products containing this ingredient, but I also promised to always be honest with you when it’s present. I fully understand that many of you natural beauties choose not to use it at all.  As I keep saying, it’s a personal choice that you have to make yourself.

While further researching phenoxyethanol, I came across a post on No More Dirty Looks, one of my favorite resources. In the comments section there was a post from a representative of Juice Beauty. I was impressed by their comments, but because it was over a year old I decided to ask about it myself. I’m glad I did. I was really pleased to learn more about their approach to preservatives directly.

Juice Beauty uses a sage-derived version of phenoxyethanol, and the high-acid content of their fruit-based products allows them to use less of it. More importantly, however, they are currently reformulating their line to use other preservative systems and are now 68% phenoxyethanol-free. In fact, the Serum and Toner you see above are now available without it. If you are interested in trying the new formulations, I suggest contacting them before your order just to make sure you get the formulation you want. All in all I was really impressed not just with Juice Beauty’s products but also their commitment to the natural beauty community. They are listening to what we want, and they’re making it happen! That’s great!

Now, with all that said, I truly loved these products! As I said, they were provided for my consideration without obligation, but my opinions are just that: mine!

Have you tried any Juice Beauty products? What are your favorites?
