Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm Have you ever passed these Burt’s Bees tinted lip balms in their cute cardboard packaging and thought, “Oh these look like fun?” Well, on a recent drugstore-aisle-meandering trip, I just couldn’t pass them up. I chose Red Dahlia because it appeared to be the darkest red they had, and I suspected they would not be super tinted. While these feel absolutely lovely on your lips and they are all natural, there is almost NO color payoff. I know I shouldn’t have been surprised by this, but I was. Also, the packaging itself is quite misleading. The large cardboard tube is just that, a large cardboard tube. The outer tube is so oversized that it almost suggests it would be a cheek and lip tint. Not so. The actual product itself is just a chapstick-like plastic tube of balm. This didn’t make much sense to me for Burt’s Bees, they usually aren’t wasteful in their packaging. I don’t dislike this product, it just wasn’t what I expected. These would be a great option for a young girl who wants to start wearing makeup but who’s clever mother knows that she shouldn’t! Tricky? No, Smart!
I wasn’t ready to give up on this product, because it’s very smooth and nourishing. So I decided to pair it with a similarly colored, but non-moisturizing companion, the Josie Maran Magic Marker cheek and lip stain in Quickstep. The result: Pure natural looking non-toxic perfection. This is now a go-to “running out” choice for me. Have you ever tried these products? What did you think?
